Category: Getting to Know You
Hi everybody. My name's Jenny and I'm fairly new on The Zone. Now, I was born listening to Classical music, brought up on Classical music and still love Classical music to this day. I took the GCSE in music six years ago and passed with the best grade I ever had, a C. However, the catch is, I don't like anything too heavy or tuneless which is why Radio 3 is out for me. I'd really like to know if any young people of around my age are interested in Classical music or the lives of all the classical composers we're still listening to today, on TV, radio or even better, your own little stash of classical CDs like me. Feel free to have a look at my profile anytime.
hi jenny, i like some of it, flute music, hayley westenra, i listened to her on sunday morning on aled's show here in the uk, i lifted my head and thought yeah. i also relaxed, feeling every part of me i could. also, i felt really close to suzannah, (our friend that died) for anyone that doesn't know. i felt really spiritual, like, close to her for the first time in ages.
Hello Aled. I adore Classical and we are usually glued to the music video station Classic Fm.Hmm Composers Vivaldi, Mahler, Mozart,Puccini,Verdi,Rachmaninov & Elgar.
My name's not Aled. Didn't you read the first post? It says Aledfan, which means I'm an Aled Jones Fan.
Hey calm down ok I was abbreviating and you will die young if you persist in being so touchy.
hehee yeah jen people do do that sometimes, though you can't really abreviate on my name, unless you wanted to call me sheila lol.
Yeah, well Goblin, it looked like you actually thought my name was Aled! I'd look and feel pretty stupid if I had a boy's name. I just wanted to clear that up before it reached the ears of the real Aled Jones on GMS or one of his other shows he now presents on the BBC.
My god you are obssesed get a life mate and quickly
Honey, you really need to calm down. And stop getting on Goblin's nerves. You shouldn't piss off really cool people like that, as there is a lot to talk about with them, unlike so many individuals on the zone. Besides, aren't we here to talk about classical music? I love opera, classical, romantic, and some neoclassical music. Just about anything from the common practice period goes though. I love Mozart, just about anything he's written I like. Wagnor, and Puccini are my top choices for operatic composers, but I also love Carmon and also some more modern operas such as Amal and the Night Visitors, and most operas by Minauti, like the Consoul. For my favorite Mozart opera it's a close tie between the Magic Flute and the Marriage of Figgaro, although I also love Don Giovani. Bethoven is one of my favorite composers of instrumental and choral music, but I didn't care for his opera overly much. Vavaldi's four seasons, especially summer, and Pachabell's Kannon are also amung my favorites. I have to be in the right mood for Mahler, but the same goes for Stravinski. I love Rachmaninov and also Procofiov. I love the New World symphony, and also all of the Slavanic dances. I like Bethoven's fifth, and also his ninth, as well as Mozart's Rhonda Alla Turka, and a Little Bit of Night Music. I'm going to stop now, because if I were to list all of my favorite composers and pieces I would be here all day, and people would be very annoyed with me for taking up so much board space with my ramblings. And, before anybody points it out, yes, I know there are numerous spelling errors above. I adore the composers, but I have trouble spelling everyday words, let alone the names of Russian, German, and Serbian composers.
Hmmm, i really thought i'd replied to this topic, but oh well. I'm not a fan of classical as a style, but i love meddi evil, renaissance and baroque. anything with lovely choirs and harmonies just makes me drool.
uh, cool, he's rahter rude i think.
If I'm ever singing in a choir that is performing Beroche or Renascence music, and there is some weirdo drooling in the audience I'll know that it's you. And I'll throw a monitor or a fellow choristor's folder at you.
I'm only rude to those who deserve it.Galileo have you heard of the Medieval Babes, good quality genuine medieval music and songs, worth checking out.
as a pro musician, you could say I'm into music.
Principally, I'm a keyboard player (harpsichord, piano and organ), but I also sing as a countertenor when i get the chance.
I'm a massive opera fan and enjoy Handel and Mozart operatic and choral music particularly.
I like early music, renaissance, romantic, and baroque and some modern stuff as well. Some of my collection includes Bach, Mozart, Algar, Mendelson, chopan, lyst, Racmaninoph, Laduvico Anaudi, Montivurdi, etc. I have a lot of albums of classical guitar and solo piano performances. I also love most anything played on lute or harpsichord.
I like classical music. Especially Andrea Bochelli, Russle Watson, the 3 tenners, there is also the 3 Scottish tenners. I also like music by Handle. I find classical music relaxing.
I also listen to classical music a lot. I especially like Rachmaninov (ah, his 2nd piano concerto makes me lose the ground under my feet!), right now I am studying a few of his songs, they are very interesting but not in an easy way. Because I am a singer, opera is quite close to me. Not only big opera works, but also artsongs, which also have their own charm.
Hi folks.
I too am a classical music fan. My favourite composers enclude Mozart, Vivaldi, Chaykovsky, Verdi and Straus.
God willing I'll be going to see Chaykovsky's 'sleeping beauty in December and I'm looking forward to it very much!
I also love Baithoven's moonlight sonata and for eliz.
In addition to thisI too am into Andrea Bochelli and I love Carmon, Norma and Madame Butterfly.
I've been to Salzburg recently and have heard 2 wonderful mozzart concert. Please God if I go next time, I want to see the marriage of Figaro and the magic floot! My second trip won't be for an other couple of years though. Still, a girl can dream.
All the best,
Maria.
